Index Ventures is doubling down on its bet on the future of technology with a massive new capital raise totaling 3.5 billion dollars. This fresh injection of funding is split across three distinct vehicles designed to support entrepreneurs at every stage of their development, featuring a 400 million dollar seed fund, a 900 million dollar venture fund, and a substantial 2.2 billion dollar growth fund. The firm intends to direct these resources toward high growth sectors, specifically targeting breakthroughs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and critical digital infrastructure.
The move comes on the heels of a monumental win for the firm via its investment in Wiz, the cloud security giant recently acquired by Google for 32 billion dollars. That specific deal reportedly netted Index an estimated 4.3 billion dollars in returns, providing a powerful catalyst for the firm to seek out the next generation of unicorns. By expanding its capacity to write larger checks while still maintaining a strong presence in early stage seeding, Index aims to identify talented founders regardless of where they are located and support them through the entirety of their scaling process.
Israel remains a central pillar of this expansion strategy. For two decades, Index has been deeply embedded in the Israeli tech scene, backing household names like Gong and Fireblocks. Juriaan Duizendstraal, who leads the firm’s activities in Israel, has overseen dozens of recent deals involving cutting edge ventures such as Enigma AI and NewCore. These investments reflect a broader trend within the region where veteran talent from elite military units continues to launch sophisticated firms specializing in everything from robotic foundation models to identity security for AI agents.
As part of its current trajectory, Index is increasingly focusing on how enterprises manage costs and secure their networks in an era dominated by machine learning. Recent plays into companies like PointFive and Glow demonstrate that the firm isn’t just chasing hype but is looking for practical tools that solve complex infrastructure problems. With billions now at its disposal, Index Ventures is positioning itself not just as a financier but as a permanent partner for founders navigating the volatile transition into an AI driven economy.
